It’s all part of Obama’s game. That is, don’t make it look like anybody from that part of the world with those symptoms is automatically suspect - which they are - so therefore don’t automatically test them even when they have Ebola like symptoms.
Of course, in the case of a small child, this delay could be fatal. But Obama doesn’t care. With him, politicizing everything is the primary concern.
How expensive is this test? He has the symptoms. He is from a known Ebola area. What’s the hold up?
His family was oblivious, ignorant or even negligent for having the boy stay in that Hot Zone. Who in that area of Africa does not know what’s going on? It could be that after the parents, now aware of their deadly oversight, have become desperate to get the best treatment for their boy, before he reaches that dreaded second stage of hemmorhage and internal organ failure.

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
The first test takes four hours. They know by now.
CNN’s Chris Cuomo asked why the child wasn’t simply tested for Ebola right away, and Raju answered that officials need to establish first whether he had any contact with Ebola sufferers

Ah what if he does have Ebola but his family don’t know if anyone hes been around the last couple of weeks had Ebola ???
someone at his school, someone in the street or a store,
or he might have been in a public restroom after an Ebola patient
or on a plane (remember it can show up in 2 days)
or in the airport, bus, etc..
what if one of his relatives in Africa had Ebola or was a carrier, unbeknown while the family were there..
the family do not really have to know for sure if someone he was around had Ebola..
I could get Ebola from a treadmill at the gym and not know who gave the disease to me..

I went to see my dermatologist this morning. They wanted to know whether I had traveled outside the country in the last 21 days. Wow. Never been asked that before.
