I know damned well how careful they are - I've been there, I have friends who work there and were there tonight.

...but nobody was in danger.

You have no knowledge of that. While every attempt is made to ensure the safety of everyone, there are no guarantees.

Debris is being found on Chincoteague and Assateague. Marshes were burning - marshes at the edges of the mainland.

90 minutes after the fact we had to take the long way home because roads were still closed. My daughter was at dance class in Maryland and friends who live near Wallops were unable to go home.

Please do not try to tell me I don't know what I do know.

I'm here, you're not.

The news stories seem to support my account. Some debris may wash up on shore. Nobody was in any danger.

The haters are out. You’re right and they are wrong. How ignorant of them to dismiss the enormous effort that goes into safety. This is tragic for everyone involved. Sure the politics of NASA should be debated and there is a time and place for that. But right now, while the fires still burn and the questions are unanswered, a little humanity can go a long way. Unless you’re a hater.
