Greedy, shoulda just given it to the kid. On the other hand, kid may have wounded it, but the kill shot is what matters. My first instinct was "give it to the kid", but on reflection, I like the neighbor's answer. The kid will learn that a kill is what matters, and I'll bet he takes a better shot next time around.
