Multiple sources within Washington's organization believe it is a forgone conclusion former starting quarterback Robert Griffin III will not back be back with the team in 2015, with the disconnect between him and the team's decision-makers growing so great, and the desire to retain him so scant, that an offseason divorce is inevitable.
The division between Griffin and the team -- the weekly stories of his leadership and the endless gossip -- and his being benched for the final month of the season for the second straight year, by two different head coaches, have left the situation beyond repair, the sources believe, with a trade the most likely end-game. Griffin has become damaged goods, mentally and physically, in Washington after a tumultuous three seasons there since the team gave up a ransom of draft picks to move up and select him second overall, and with him no longer beloved by owner Dan Snyder, and receiving anything but an endorsement from coach Jay Gruden, and Colt McCoy viewed as a better option right now, bringing him back would only further pollute the situation.
Other executives around the league, contacted privately for their thoughts on the situation, almost unanimously agreed the Redskins would trade him (though one posited, with the trade value likely to be so low, Snyder and general manager Bruce Allen would opt to keep Griffin rather than face the ignominy of dealing so cheaply after parting with three first-round picks to land him).

That’s okay. They’ve been setting themselves back for several years, for several years now...
Tebow II. - The Blacklist Saga.
Unless they change their team name.

Deadskins have the worst owner in the NFL.
Send him to Houston!!! The Texans’ Quarterback position has been under a curse for 2 years.

What in the world happened to RG3?
I remember when this guys was being heralded as the best thing ever, now it’s like how to get rid of him.
Admittedly, I don’t follow the Redskins, only the Saints, who are not doing well at all.
He blew out his knee, he already had a blown knee in college, and can’t move as he once did. Also it looks like he is another product of a wacky college system who can’t run a Pro style offense. The guy has shown the inability of doing the basic things to be a successful NFL QB.
Ah I see.
Well I can certainly understand about his knee.
I blew my own knee out in martial arts one day. Once it bends in a way that it isn’t supposed to, it will bend that way anytime it wants to, and that is extremely painful.
As far as his skill set goes, seems like teams need to be smarter in giving up picks for certain players unless they are absolutely sure that’s the right way to go.
I hear that Tebow is still looking to QB.
When everybody knows you want to get rid of a player it’s hard to get more than a 3rd rounder. Although the Jets ponied up for extra picks to get Tebow, maybe they’ll do that again.
Neither were blacklisted. RGIII will get picked up again, just like Tebow was. And he’ll either succeed or fail, just like Tebow did.
Teams should NEVER give up extra picks to get a player. It’s a 53 man roster with around 1/3 turnover a year, a team needs to get 7 players for 7 picks. Smart teams get more (Belichick has built his career on coming into draft day with over a dozen picks, and trading some away for multiple picks), teams that use 3 or 4 picks to get one guy invite thin spots into their lineup and fail. But of course if there weren’t teams dumb enough to give up multiple picks for one guy the Belichick method couldn’t exist.
“The drafting of RG III looks like it is going to set back the Skins for several years considering all the 1st round picks they gave up. “
The Redskins were ALREADY set back by several years BEFORE drafting RGIII given their execrable play in multiple areas this year. So this will set them back several MORE years given what they gave up to get RGIII.
One can only assume the Skins have horrible leadership at the top to produce such a bad team with such bad decision-making.
Drinking game: Every time a sportscaster says “RGIII” you take a drink.
You’d be soused before the first quarter was over... and thats not even during a Redskins game.
I think the sportscasters just like hearing themselves say that.
Snyder is the root cause of the team’s persistent problems. He doesn’t know how to build and run a winning team.
We do have the worst owner in the NFL. There is something endemically wrong with the team. RGIII should be all means be a decent player in the NFL; he has the athleticism, the football skills, and he is smart and level headed. How he is not doing well with the Redskins is mind boggling. It would not surprise me that he goes somewhere else and is successful; there is alot to build on with him.
Agreed.
