Equal weight beats cap weight most of the time. 2013-2014, not as much. Plain old SPY is almost as good lately.

I’m testing SPY vs RSP strategy now.

But for family members, yes buy RSP gradually.

Over the past 25 years, only 38.6% of active funds have outperformed the broader S&P 500 on an annual basis.

Does that include bond funds and balanced bond/stock funds? If so, they aren't aiming to beat the S&P 500. They give up return to cut down on risk.

A quick Google search shows that an equal-weight ETF may not be the panacea the author indicates. While equal-weight ETFs have outperformed market-weighted ETFs lately, there have been times in recent history where that has not been the case.
