NY Daily News ^ | December 15, 2014 | Manish Mehta

When the wackiness of the final play was over and one forward pass and three laterals had come up nine yards short for the Titans, two words likely crossed every smart Jets fan’s mind:

It figures.

Rex Ryan and his players rejoiced over this December win during this lost season, while the legions of team followers cursed a meaningless moment that almost certainly cost the Jets a chance at drafting a franchise quarterback in the coming months.

The J-E-T-S can't get even tanking right. I hope they don't draft Jameis Winston. The guy will 100% implode being in NY getting into trouble in Manhattan and the constant surveillance of the NY press.

Hey....Nothing compared to my beloved Browns.

Nobody is as good as Cleveland at being humiliated in nationally televised games.

I dunno, I think he’ll fit into the nfl quite well, he’s already got thuggery down to a fine art.

Notice all the Browns fans are ready to commit suicide over Johnny Football’s dreadful performance.

Maybe they can trade for the Redskins’ franchise quarterback?...

Bring in Griffin keep Geno then go 100% spread option offense. Probably need a third QB who can run it to get through the season. :0

Winston would be a perfect fit for the Jets

The third guy could be Tim Tebow!

The Jets don’t need a big-name QB, they need an offensive line and a better coaching staff.

Not me.

I knew rorm the start that drafting him was a mistake.

He may have talent — but he isn’t a good fit for the current Browns’ offense and he is far too small to survive in the AFC North.

Maybe the Browns can trade him to Seattle for a bag of chips and a player to be named later. Manziel would fit into the Seahawks offense better.

The Jets are so bad that they can’t even be the worst team and get the #1 pick.

This is NOT a good year for franchise QBs. I doubt there's any. The Rams had the misfortune of needing a QB witha first overall pick when the best available was Sam Bradford AND just before the reworked player's agreement lowered rookie salaries. The Rams are STILL payng for that.

I tell my fellow NY Giants fans that if the are out of the picture by mid season we should give up and go for the first round draft pick.

Winston will be a cancer wherever he goes.

As far as the draft slot goes, the Jets will screw it up regardless.

Let’s just hope they don’t draft a Heisman winner.

Not this Browns fan or the ones I watch the games with. I said long before the draft Manziel would be an NFL bust.

I hate that they wasted a pick on him & did not draft ANY WRs despite all their draft picks & their glaring need.

#1 pick isn’t necessarily a good thing, in fact usually it’s a bad thing.

Although actually one of the things I like about the NFL is that nobody ever seems to tank. You often see teams get that “bad” win that takes them out of the 1st draft pick. Unlike the NBA where the 76ers are deliberately killing a second season in a row, and they’re in a league with a lottery so there isn’t even a guarantee they’ll get the 1st pick.

useless article from a useless beat writer with no clue of football...

1) Rex is gone after the season- the last thing he’s going to do is tank games so a franchise he won’t be with next year gets a better pick...

2) the players like Rex, have not quit on him and despite how awful the game was yesterday, want to win for their coach.

3) even had they lost Tampa Bay still has the 1st pick and they’ll take Mariota
