I’m sick to death (no pun intended) of all things zombie. It’s all so stupid.
Like it or not, zombies are still incredibly popular. As with most fads, it will probably fade away at some point, although zombies will still always retain some cultural significance.
I think some horror enjoyment is okay, but it’s reached new levels of public fixation. In my opinion, this trend was boosted with the TV show Dexter, about a guy who roams around killing ‘bad people’. Another boost in horror fixation was that movie “American Psycho”. I didn’t see it, actually, I refused to go see it once it was described to me.
Now we have Zombie Emporiums, with adults roaming the public streets all dressed up like dead folk, now made dirty and deranged. We have branched off into another adult clique, called ‘The Furies’, adults who meet with each other all dressed up in expensive animal costumes that recreate them as anonymous, amoral overgrown children, not fully responsible for what they do. Some of this is nothing but plain fun, which is fine, but others may see it as a more inclusive cult of personality. This Zombie Nativity Guy demonstrates a case of arrested development. Most folks pass through the stage of ‘useless rebellion’ during their teenage years and are done with that level of acting out.
We have zombie pub crawls here in the Twin Cities.
Mostly just college kids with too much time on their hands.
Thank you Luke :)
