I’d lay even money that the entire thing has nothing to do with North Korea but was instead an elaborate PR stunt by Sony. They had a dog of a movie, and they found a way to make the whole world interested in it.
I think in some ways you are right, but I don’t think Sony thought it would get THIS out of hand. It sort of took a life of its own even if Sony originally started it.
Let me know how much money you’re willing to put on the line. This was an ATM movie, a sure break even down to the penny, everyone involved knew how much it would make. For your bet to be right, the studio put out five full length unreleased movies, most of which would gross more than The Interview, opened themselves to a billion dollar identity theft lawsuit, tens of millions in damages to future projects, and trash their internal network which still isn’t fully operational.
Payee can be the next Free path on from the state of Sony.
Bingo!!
We thought that immediately at our house.
Sony most likely did test viewing of the movie - with horrible reviews and results — and, as they’re nearing bankruptcy needed a “Hit.”
And, this wasn’t it.
I’d rather scrub my kitchen floor than watch this!!
