Chilling body cam video captures final moments before rookie Arizona cop is gunned down by suspect
Flagstaff Officer Tyler Stewart was shot five times Dec. 27 as he interviewed Robert Smith, 28, about a domestic altercation between the man and his girlfriend. The footage shows the two chatting along before Smith pulls out a revolver as 24-year-old Stewart goes to pat down the suspect for possible weapons.
Chilling police body camera video shows the calm final moments before a domestic violence suspect pulled a gun and shot a rookie Arizona cop five times, then turned the revolver on himself.
Flagstaff Officer Tyler Stewart, 24, had been on the force less than a year when he was gunned down Dec. 27 by 28-year-old Robert Smith.
The 14-minute video of the deadly encounter shows how innocuously it began before Smith suddenly pulled the .22-caliber revolver and fired off six shots, four of which hit Stewart in the head.

The lesson of this video and others surely to come: The Ferguson type protests are over. Not only will the body cams desplay what happened in a particular event that people may “want” to protest, but the general impression people get of what cops have to deal with regarding some people will shift wildly into the favor of the cops.
There is no other way it could go, assuming more of these videos are released.

Yup. Already had a case out in CA somewhere of a young lady accusing the cops of molesting her while in custody.

Unfair, the “suspect” didn’t know he was being recorded. The officer should’ve been wearing one of those “VIDEO RECORDING IN PROGRESS” signs meybe as a tee shirt...

BTW, I think they just let it slide. She should have been prosecuted for false accusation.
I know if it were me falsely accused I would want charges.

The young lady accusing the cops of molesting her needs to have the same sentence levied upon her as would have been levied upon the accused officer(s).
These false accusations need to be dealt with in an extreme manner.
Body cams are a MUST, to protect both the public and the police.

Good cops get evidence they are good cops. Bad cops get evidence of their misbehavior.
Needs some sort of constant uploading to prevent “accidental” deletion when a cop does something he shouldn’t.
Imho, the officer was not well trained. He was in the suspect’s space when the gun was pulled and, according to the article, raised his hands in defense rather than going after the weapon. That reaction was a fatal decision following horrible protocol for a suspect with hidden hand(s)...
That was interesting. Kudos to the protestor who took them up on putting himself in a cop’s shoes. How quickly he found himself in danger! I hope he continues to talk to his community about how important it is to comply with a LEO. It’s for everyone’s safety to do so.

Yeah, it’s sad. He couldn’t have been trained right or the situation didn’t appear threatening or he didn’t have enough experience. I knew right away when the perp left to go in the other room he was trouble, he’s either hiding something or getting something. Very tough to be a cop, it’s split-second decision making. The perp could have pulled out a cellphone and the cop could have shot him and then the libs would be calling for the cops neck, or called racist by the communist piece of rat filth Bill DeBlasio if the perp was black. Plain talk always works best “I’m not really comfortable with the fact that you went into the other room and are standing to the side, so if you don’t mind i would like to search you before we talk” If the perp refuses then ready that gun, there no law that says you can’t pull a bead on a perp especially if you feel threatened.
