I’m the father of boys and girls. One son is in engineering school. His school is about 90% male but nearly every piece of literature from every college he looked at featured an over-preponderance of females.

We also work with FIRST Robotics. Same story there.

This lunacy makes my wife violently angry. She thinks it’s forcing girls into areas and careers where they may have little interest.

We have a friend who wanted to go to art school but is an engineer instead. She hated it and is a full time mom.

I think they know the “pay disparity” is caused by women dedicating less time/interest to better-paying jobs, and they can’t reduce engineers’ salaries to those of hairdressers and nail techs. Women are 60% of college classes, but too many are still shying away from fields that require long hours and hard work; they are trying to fight against nature reversing that (as too many women still try to factor a family into their planning, whether one will materialize or not).

Talk about bait and switch advertising!
