Correction: there is an image of the pilot in an orange jumpsuit walking somewhere unrestrained. It could have been taken on the day of his execution and then again maybe not. Either way, he was on foot without shackles of any kind. He could have been doped up... and he may have been resigned to his fate (however- his choice.) An Italian hostage that was beheaded enunciated to those filming his impending demise: “I’ll show you how to die like a man!”
If he were outside the cage - he had no way of knowing they intended to burn him alive in it - but maybe just to get public pics for disseminating - ‘negotiating’ - the ‘proof of life’ Jordon was demanding.
