I suspect this happened a while ago. When Goto was shown holding a picture of this pilot, I figured he was already dead. ISIS doesn’t negotiate.

Yep, he still had a bit of a shiner on the one eye as well in the “new” photos released just prior to his murder. I'm thinking he was killed maybe as much as three weeks ago. Jordan demanded live proof, so the negotiations went no where. Hence the video release.
