I did a little cooking “experiment” this week and it came out pretty good. I had some leftover chili so I made into a “chili cornbread cobbler”.

I put some refrigerated chili in an oven-safe dish, with some cheese on top, then I mixed up about 2 servings of cornbread batter, spread it on top, and cooked it in the oven for 30-35 minutes.

Once the topping was done, I took it out and put some sour cream “frosting” on it. Delish!

Those olives sound great! I love olives!!

I made double batches of chicken gumbo and taco soup, today, to freeze.

I used to make those olive cheese balls, too. And yes, they always got scarfed up quickly. They’re great hors d’oeuvres because because they’re good with wine and beer or cocktails.

I love appetizers! I’d rather order two appetizers than a main course. :)

I just made an Alfredo sauce that is probably going to kill me. 1/8 stick of olive oil and sea salt butter. 1 cup heavy cream. 1 cup shredded Parmesan cheese, 1 cup shredded Mozzarella cheese.

Melt butter in sauce pan. Add cream, heat gently. Add cheeses, whisk like crazy until cheese melts. I'll be at the gym all day Saturday doing cardio to work this off, but ... yeah, new favorite sauce.

One of my latest, must make a batch very week, foods. I like to fry up the leftovers to make them extra crispy. They do need a good squeeze of lemon juice. Not my own recipe, so here the source:

Spicy Tuna Cakes

Cheap and yummy.

TIPS

A recipe calling for citric acid- a rub for chicken as an example...a great substitute is unsweetened lemon Kool Ade.

Reheat Pizza... Heat up leftover pizza in a nonstick skillet on top of
the stove, set heat to med-low and heat till warm. ?This keeps the crust
crispy. ?No soggy micro pizza. ?I saw this on the cooking channel and it
really works.

Easy Deviled Eggs: Put cooked egg yolks in a zip lock bag. Seal, mash
till they are all broken up. ?Add remainder of ingredients, reseal, keep
mashing it up mixing thoroughly, cut the tip of the baggy, squeeze
mixture into egg. ?Just throw bag away when done easy clean up.

Expanding Frosting: When you buy a container of cake frosting from the
store, whip it with your mixer for a few minutes. ?You can double it in
size. You get to frost more cake/cupcakes with the same amount.
You also eat less sugar/calories per serving.

Reheating refrigerated bread: To warm biscuits, pancakes, or muffins
that were refrigerated, place them in a microwave with a cup of water.
The increased moisture will keep the food moist and help it reheat
faster.

Newspaper weeds away: Start putting in your plants, work the nutrients
in your soil. Wet newspapers put layers around the plants overlapping
as you go cover with mulch and forget about weeds. ?
Weeds will get through some gardening plastic they will not get through
wet newspapers.

Broken Glass: Use a dry cotton ball to pick up little broken glass
pieces of glass-the fibers catch ones you can’t see!

I never use dryer sheets in the dryer as they also cause spots on certain clothes.

I will be making these the next time I pick up some avocados.

Avocado Bacon Egg Rolls

Ingredients:
Oil
2 large avocados; perfectly ripe, peeled, pitted, and sliced
½ lime
Salt
6-7 slices pepperjack cheese
12-14 bacon slices, cooked
12-14 egg roll wrappers
1 tablespoon flour
Water

Instructions:
Heat about 2” of oil to 350 degrees F in a large frying pan.
Place avocado slices on a place or large bowl. Drizzle with lime and then sprinkle with salt as desired. Place flour in a small bowl and add water to make into a watery/thin paste.
Place one egg roll wrapper on your work surface, with one corner pointing towards you, forming a diamond on your surface. Lay ½ of a slice of cheese in the middle. Lay 1 slice of avocado on top of cheese, and then one slice of bacon, broken in half. Finish with another slice of avocado.
Fold the part of the wrapper pointing towards you over the stack of avocado, etc. Fold the left and right points over the middle and roll up egg roll nearly all the way, taking care to fold tightly with no openings for ingredients to fall or leak out. With finger tip, dab a bit of the flour mixture on the remaining corner at the top and then seal this corner onto the egg roll to close it.
Repeat steps with remaining ingredients. Carefully place a few egg rolls into hot oil and cook until golden brown, turning them over once during the frying. Remove from oil and allow to drain and cool on a place lined with paper towels or napkins. Serve whole or cut in half at an angle with dip of your choice (if you wish).

NEW PRODUCTS

Dole Garden Fresh soups
http://dole.com/gardensoup?gclid=CPiQgrbr0sMCFcxj7AodzGQApg

Dawn dish washing liquid - this brand has been used for years. They now offer a super de-greaser (both liquid and spray) WHICH IS WONDERFUL. Spray it on the greasiest of ranges, pots and leave it for a bit. Wipe off with a damp cloth. The elderly lady across the road has a model ‘50’s white enamel range which she claimed just wouldn’t come clean. Years of grease had accumulated on the surface top. A new bottle of this stuff under my sink, so out it came and used on her range. WOW - Put my claim in early. After telling her, that retro hunters would pay a pretty dime to buy her range, my request is made early to be remembered in her will :) That and her clawed-foot bathtub. Name tagged.

Philadelphia Cream Cheese spreads has some new flavors as well. Strawberry cream cheese, bacon cream cheese.

And that’s the news for today. Always looking for new stuff better than the old stuff. Sometimes pleased as punch; sometimes, not

Geeze...and another
http://vintagevictuals.com/

After Google’s visit a few months ago, they were worse than the children about leaving toys scattered about the room. The address changes which were made did nothing but make a complete mess of my home. Working on cleaning and tidying it up. When complete, will leave the address and invite ya’ll on over. Until that time, when a new one seen which might be of help, it’s posted immediately or else left forgotten in the cobwebs of the mind, behind the drapes.

You’ve stated don’t do Facebook. How about Pinterest?
Both wear the same hat - neither are done here either. Anyway, here is a good site if you wish to visit. To see the sites there completely requires logging in ...which has never been done. Unfamiliar territory so it remains unconquered and left to others.
