That show was always suspicious. A bunch of guys spend major money and time to get ranked on a list. But they have to race on the street in the middle of the night. There drag strips designed for these races.
I saw this show about a week ago. It is the most irresponsible thing I have ever seen on TV.
Street racing in south LA is a huge problem. I used to work in Compton and there was so much rubber on the street at 135th and Compton, it looked like a real race track. National Geographic did a special on street racing at that location, and showed the cars hitting 200 MPH on Compton, with residential on the left and commercial on the right. If I remember right, their excuse for racing on the street is they didn’t meet the requirements to race cars that powerful at a drag strip. I always thought I would see one of those cars wrapped around a semi, one day.
