Octopi are well known escape artists from aquaria. Knowing this, I wonder why the octopus exhibit didn’t have any sort of top lid or cover.

EXACTLY....had an acquaintance tell of a friend of his who owned an octopus. Had a fish tank next to the octopus tank...the guy worked nights. He would come home and find all of his fish gone....refill the tank, and then the fish would be gone. Set up a camera....turned out the octopus would climb out of its tank, crawl into the other one, eat the fish, then return to its tank!

LOL. Why, that slimy little cephalopod! Must have cost this guy a fortune to be replacing saltwater fish on a regular basis. Did he eventually wise up and put a sturdy lid on the octopus tank, or did he enjoy the octopus for dinner one night?

As the guy is trying to get the ‘arms’ back in, the octopus is sending mental messages of ‘send a little smaller one, please, this one is too heavy to lift over the edge for dinner.’

Would’ve made it if someone just gave him a hand.

"It was not an escape attempt," aquarium spokesman Tim Kuniholm said of the video, in which Ink inched his way up the cylindrical glass tank to squeals from onlookers. "It's a new exhibit and the animal was exploring his boundaries."

lol....

Yes it was just exploring it's boundaries, not an escape attempt. Our friends like it here and would never attempt to escape the happy fish tank....

There were pics of this on the local news.

It made a valiant attempt!

But given that Puget Sound has REAL GIANT OCTOPI, to call this one massive is quite a bit over the top...

More like a runt!

Not an escape attempt? Yeah, right; and when things go “BOOM” after an “Allahu Akbar” it’s not terrorism?
