Tim Burton “did OK” with Alice In Wonderland?

Dude, for one of many points - there’s a moat filled with blood and thousands of bobbing disembodied heads. Way to turn a children’s story into an adult’s nightmare (unless you’re with ISIS). No question it was well done for what it is, but we’re talking a brilliant-but-deranged director with a track record of turning classic G movies into horror films.

The two Alice books by Lewis Carroll are quite disturbing actually.

That had actually been done a long time ago. American McGee did an amazing third person shooter based on Alice (the REAL Alice, not the lame Disney cleaned up version), it’s pretty grim. They sold the movie rights for it but it got trapped in development hell. But it did spawn a lot of “Alice might actually be crazy” adaptations of the story. If anything Burton’s toned it down. They aren’t actually happy stories. Disney took all the fangs out when they turned it (and so Grimm’s Fairy Tales) into G rated movies.
