Looking at the chart in the article, it appears to me that we're shut out here in North America. Please tell me if I'm wrong - the last time I saw a total Solar eclipse was over a half-century ago..

Yeah ... me too ... it was in Boston and I remember going to a hilltop to see it and I was maybe 8 or 10 years old

I remember not looking at the sky like a lot of the adults were, but being mesmerized by the color of our clothing and how it had changed ... not like black light, but another spectrum that just fascinated me.

In a few minutes me and my little brother left to go to school ... I remember it being in the morning

Well, if you can live a couple more years, the next total solar eclipse to hit the US will be in late summer 2017. Should be a good one as it will cut a swath across the entire country.

The total solar eclipse of March 7, 1970 was visible across all of North America and Central America. I was working in NYC at the time and recall the warnings published in the new to not look directly at the sun. Some people viewed it through strips of film. Charles Kuralt of CBS News was the anchor for live coverage of the event. Solar Eclipse 1970 March 7 CBS News 1 of 6
