Two weeks ago, while speaking at a dinner in New York, Rudy Giuliani made news—in a negative way—by opining aloud about President Obama’s love of country.

Let’s also be clear that the 47 Republicans didn’t negotiate with the ayatollahs. They wrote an open letter—really an op-ed, conveying their concern that the Obama administration is essentially negotiating an international treaty without seeking Senate ratification.

And there you go.

“Beyond Orwellian”

I think it’s precisely Orwellian. Orwell portrayed practices that, sadly, can be very effective. Potential True Believers are legion.

"Call it the Giuliani Rule: Any rumination prefaced by the phrase 'I know this is a horrible thing to say' should probably go unuttered."

No. It is an antecedent warning indicating that the subsequent will be the unvarnished truth.

It's related to the antecedent warning "not being inquisitive but" which indicates that the speaker is about to be inquisitive.

Yes, I'm afraid Carl has missed the point. Those who are entrenched in the Groupthink simply cannot recognize the truth when it clobbers them.

They're like poor old Jocasta and Oedipus. Absolutely unable to see the obvious.

ANYTIME anyone says anything against any of this administration, they are racist; terrorists; bigots; treasonous....

Lets face it, the only people who fits that bill is the administration itself, from the pResident down to the street sweeper....

As is plentifully recalled now, beginning with Richard Nixon’s tenure in the White House liberals in the Senate and House would spend the next several decades injecting themselves into the conduct of American foreign policy when there was a Republican in the Oval Office. Senators or even former senators included John Kerry and Tom Harkin as well as Vance Hartke (Vietnam), George McGovern (Vietnam), Ted Kennedy (the Soviet Union), Christopher Dodd (Nicaragua and Syria), Robert Byrd (the Soviet Union), John Tunney (the Soviet Union), James Abourezk, (the PLO), Adlai Stevenson III (the PLO), Bill Nelson (Syria) and Joe Biden (the Soviet Union). House members aside from Jim Wright and Lee Hamilton included Nancy Pelosi (Syria), Robert Torricelli (Nicaragua) and David Bonior and Jim McDermott, the latter two interfering in Iraq. Jesse Jackson, who never served a day in Congress, has busied himself over the years intervening with dictators from Syria to Venezuela to Kosovo and more.

There’s no statute of limitations on treason.

The letter is just that, a letter, it isn’t “bombs away”.

This a noisy political debate, a war of words between Democrats and Republicans.

I’m with Ted Cruz, but certainly not Mitch McConnell, who signed this letter to look good because Mitch is a business as usual politician.

Its easy to write a letter, instead of taking real action against Obamacare, Amnesty etc. etc....

This noisy debate is a way to avoid addressing the issues above, not to mention this nation’s constantly increasing debt ceiling which many of those 47 senators will allow to increase again very soon.

What strikes me as Orwellian is having an enemy in the White House and everyone acting as if everything is fine.

Marxist with muslim sympathies, definitely not American.
