He actually died September 27, 2014.

Read the last line of the National Post story referenced here.

And there are stories all over the web about his death on that day, the Guardian, the Telegraph and the NYT:

Harari Death

Yesterday was Mr. Harari's BIRTHDAY, which may have prompted the reprinting of stories about him.

Yes, that’s the one I believe. It was ‘made for TV’ back in the 80’s and I watched it a couple of times. Thought it was good.

No polymer Berettas at that time. Different materials, but a 22, with special rounds. Not sure about semi-auto either, as these leave casings.

Weapon of choice— low powder low velocity 22 in a revolver— up close and personal back of the head. The round rolls around inside and doesn’t exit. Also, low noise— pop pop.

Just curious. What makes you wonder if there might have been polymer Berettas at the time?

I don’t. Model 70 of that era was not polymer. Wondered about their use of a semi-auto, leaving casings. Which apparently they didn’t mind— like a “signature”. Earlier, well known they used revolvers with special low velocity rounds, and which left no casings.
