Have followed McManamon since he was a sports columnist (as opposed to the Communists appearing regularly in their editorial pages) for the Akron Beacon Journal, which actually has the best sports section of any paper in the NE Ohio region (sorry, PD, but you suck). He’s now with ESPN Ohio. He is the type of reporter who seems to like stirring things up with stories that almost never pan out. Cannot recall why he left the ABJ, but I’m pretty sure his departure was not voluntary. While QB is a glaring need the local consensus seems to be WR, OL, and DL are first round priorities and that Mariota would be another spread system QB reach. Good kid with skills suited to the spread (can you say Tim Tebow?) but not NFL prototypical. They’ll probably wait till second or later to take a QB. Personally, I like Connor Shaw and hope he gets a legitimate shot.
Connor - I didn’t see his game, I know he’s a hard working blue collar guy, but reports said his arm strength is poor.
Playing in Cleveland in Nov & Dec that’s important. For sure that’s one thing Cardale does have.
