I do add horseradish & a squeeze of lemon, but I thought the celery was garnish, just like a tiny umbrella.

;^)

The gays are a voting block, and they join forces with the police unions and firemen and teachers to promote the left wing democrat party.

A friend once called it the pole to hold on to as one is getting one’s bearings on Sunday morning.

Another friend likened it to a landmark to assist the aim.

I think it has a very important purpose. LOL

IIRC back in the Seventies, Smirnoff was pitching the Bloody Mary as a brunch cocktail.

In 1972 I went to an afternoon party thrown by the CIA station chief in Saigon to celebrate the birthday of Pres. Martin van Buren (?). The punchbowl drink was Bloody Mary’s poured beneath a banner that read “Happy Birthday, Martin Baby!”

It was a different time....

You know, there was always a celebration somewhere. Never much of a party hound, but appreciate good liquor and a well made Bloody. Never acquired the world’s fascination with G&T’s though. Made do with Vodka Gimlets.

Asked for one last summer at a restaurant and the bartender had never heard of one. I thought gimlets were foundational, like good scotch, bloodies... etc.

I guess it allows one to drink more continuously without having to take time out for something to eat....where were they when I was drinking?
