Guess that means we’ll also need national holidays for when the U.S. defeated the Mexicans, the English, the Spanish, and the Injuns, hey?
BTW, I do love the idea of a national Confederacy-Defeated day; it would be such a healing holiday, helping to unify the country, proving the superiority of the northern states, inferiority of the southern states, etc.

I try not to be a petty stickler for details, but it is a misconception that the south went to war with the north. they went to war against the United States of America. In there lies the treachery and tyrrany. This was not a squirmnish between states, it was an attack on the US, by treasonous states.
What’s so inferior about the South? It’s got better food, better weather and nicer people. I speak as a northeasterner.
