The story I read was that his brother, Larry Reid, stumbled into an AA meeting wearing a bloodied shirt. His appearance and demeanor brought a lot of attention (ie, witnesses) who remember “Larry” saying he blacked out; got into a “family fight;” and was now fearful of the Secret Service.
Why they fought...who knows. But much more plausible than the snapped Exercise Band from Hell cover story.
The weights that this decrepit old man could lift would not have done this degree of damage. Sounds like he got beat up - either a drunk relative or he got on the wrong side of his Mob friends in Vegas. But the “press” will have no interest, they will instead fly hundreds of reporters to Alaska to dig up dirtless dirt on Sarah Palin and will create a massive “story” over the answer of the fundamentalist owners of a pizza shop in a remote Indiana town to a hypothetical question about whether they would cater a gay wedding (who the hay would want a pizza place catering a wedding in the first place!). The standard questions of journalism - What, When, Where, Why, How - only apply if its someone whom the “journalists” disagree with or if they can promote an agenda item. Thus, the inquisition of Rand Paul, the timid genre of “just why do you still eat junk food” questions for the President.
