While I almost agree with you, Ted Cruz’s ability to “think on the run” (look at that amazing speech during the NRA convention—done completely from memory with no need for a TelePrompter!) and his masterful ability to properly answer any question the MSM has asked him so far means he has awesome debating skills. When even the professors at Harvard Law School—arguably the most prestigious college law school on Earth—lauded his amazing debating skills, everyone knows Cruz, if he gets the nomination, will debate in a style that will make Hillary Clinton figuratively hang herself before she realizes what happened.

Cruz is the real deal.

He certainly has potential. He could be the next Reagan, and so much more, and I truly believe he could make it to the WH. BUT - he must NOT, at any point, get away from Conservatism. The moment he does, is the moment he loses.

To be clearer: I support Ted Cruz all the way into Barack Obama’s current position as POTUS. Enthusiastically support.

But I know the lockstep of the current media and do not underestimate their subtle and blatant ways to diminish him, even if it’s to ignore him in comparison situations with others running, as another FReeper suggested on this thread.

If anyone on the scene can overcome the ill-wishes of the Marxist media, it would be TC.

The naybobs would like us to think that the second Amendment doesnt pertain to militias as a firewall to tyranny. Well here is what James Madison said in a message to Congress, Nov 8th, 1808. “For people who are free, and mean to remain so, a well organized and armed militia is their best security.”

in his 40+ years on the planet, he hasn’t yet.

i don’t think we need to ever be concerned that Ted Cruz will compromise his conservative principles in the least.

like i keep saying: Cruz is like President Reagan- principled and fearless.

more people are self-identified in America as conservative. there are many more Cruz voters than granny clinton voters. the key would be turnout.

Do you see the black vote turning out in droves in order to vote for Hillary? I sure don't. Are Independents going to crawl over broken glass to get a 3rd Obama term under Hillary? I seriously doubt it. It's time for a slaughter like the 2010 and 2014 off-year elections.

I second that.

If schools would have taught US history like they should have, kids today, not only would have a better understanding of our constitution, but complete admiration for our founding fathers AND admiration for this country.

Personally, I can't look back at the founding of this nation and NOT SEE Gods hand in it.

Hopefully the RNC is not going to allow these liberal moderators for GOP debates. They shouldn’t. Our debates should be moderated from the right - a point Rush is making right now in fact. As he said, the people are really just Clinton campaign hacks in disguise, especially Stephanopolous....

I’ve got a solution!

Why not simply have every criminal under go an Intergalactic Background Check whenever they steal a gun or buy it off the street?

Let’s say Joe burglar (Not his real name) is breaking into a house and he comes across a gun – why not require him to call the government for his required Intergalactic Background Check before he can take that gun?

Make it a law that criminals will have to call (everyone has cell phones these days) the Intergalactic background check Department Interdicting Outlaw Transactions (IDIOT for short)

Why not have a commonsense solution like that?

Hillary , um um um um , Clinton will not look as good.

What are the chances that Hillary would consent to debate someone of Cruz' caliber?

I’ll post what I put on another thread on this video- sorry to those who’ve already seen it:

In ONE answer, to a question that was supposed to be loaded, Cruz:
1. Pointed out clearly how polls can be skewed depending on how the question is asked
2. Background checks to purchase firearms are already in place
3. The federal government has no business between two people dealing with a private exchange and the American people don’t want that either
4. Framed his answer in terms of himself and the reporter in a duck blind – included the reporter and the listener and himself in a common activity. He will not be an ivory tower politician, but one in touch with the common man.
5. Deftly switched the subject where it belonged – constitutional rights. What is popular does not trump the Bill of Rights.
6. Regimes have taken away guns. And even if it was popular at the time, it was an inevitable prelude to tyranny.
7. Our country was founded on a radical proposition, that our rights do not come from government that they come from God.
8. The second amendment is there so that you and I can protect our homes and our families. A bit of a constitutional lesson here, as well as personalizing it again.
9. The second amendment is also a check against government tyranny and is not subject to public opinion polls. He finished up the answer by coming back around to the question and addressing it directly again.

All done in 2 minutes and 22 seconds.

I cannot wait for the debates! This man is brilliant. And even better, is a true conservative able to articulate his vision calmly and clearly, and back it up with history and facts.

“Why is someone who the law is looking for driving around with a broken tail light?”

Two points that should be made over and over in this debate (along with many others) ...

1. Just because something looks evil, it cannot be banned (i.e., banning guns based on their looks).

2. Magazine capacity. Opponents say no one needs a 100 round magazine. Counter with examples of mob violence.
