I don’t blame them it is much better, you can keep more of your money, more freedom, your culture, your religion, your sanity if you are surrounded by the home grown mafioso.

Very little sarcasm, I’ll say.
In the neighborhoods that had heavy mafia influence, you didn’t worry about anything. You may have to come across with a few bucks here and there, but you didn’t have to worry about stealing, robbing, etc etc.
