This week, President Obama expressed regret for two western hostages held by Al Qaeda and accidentally killed in an "anti-terrorist operation."
The deaths of these two men — American consultant Warren Weinstein and Italian aid worker Giovanni Lo Porto, both of whom had been held by Al Qaeda for several years — were indeed tragic.
It would be bad enough if they were the only innocent victims killed by the US in the "War on Terror."
But they aren’t.
Over a thousand civilians — including dozens of Westerners — are among the thousands of people who have died in US drone strikes conducted outside its declared war zones of Iraq and Afghanistan, according to independent estimates.
While US policy clearly states that attacks by unmanned aerial vehicles are only carried out when there is “near certainty” that “non-combatants” — i.e. innocent civilians — will not be killed or injured, this latest incident in western Pakistan shows the US often really doesn't have a clue who it's killing.

In WWII the British and the French resistance came up with a plan to free 250 resistance fighters by bombing the walls of their prison. The prisoners were scheduled to be executed. The RAF warned that many and perhaps all of the prisoners might be killed by bombs. The resistance said, “it is better to die from RAF bombs than German bullets.” I think the same applies here.
Incidentally, the raid was a flawless success. Roughly 37 prisoners and 50 guards died.

Oh gosh. We got people killed that those poor Islamists were using as human shields. Aren’t we bad?!!!!!
Can you imagine the howling from the Left if Obama were a Republican president? There would be weekly marches at universities and Lefty strongholds, such as NYC, San Francisco, Seattle and Portland. But these pacifists are sleeping through Obama’s drone war.
The only thing that the Obama Lama Ding Dong doesn't need to apologise for is killing the Islamist animals via drone strikes. The more, the better.
And apologized for how many people he put out of work.
All he would have to say “Bush’s fault” just once and that will cover it.
