I live near York, PA, but am a native Marylander. I used to live close to Baltimore, and still get the Baltimore channels up here.

I was sickened at a lot of the coverage. News people trying to make excuses for these people just about makes me sick. They always prefaced it by saying “there’s no place for violence and looting”, but then in the next breath want to pin things back on the police and the “lack of jobs” in the “community”.

They interviewed a young guy when the big fire was burning near Johns Hopkins. He said something to the effect of “They took away our rec centers, took away the schools close to us, so what do we have to do?”. I wanted to scream at the TV that it still doesn’t give anyone the right to be a criminal.

I’m so sick of the excuses. There are plenty of African-Americans who have made something of themselves by getting out of the “hood”. Of course, many of those are painted as “Uncle Toms”, so I guess they can piss and moan about things and remain stagnant in the slums that they created and not try to better themselves.

FIX THE 'HOOD! Clean up, Fix up, Paint up. Scrub those famous white marble steps, just as my mother did 65 years ago.

Apply for a small business loan to buy out a Chinese family owned corner grocery store. I hear they are selling at 'Fire Sale" prices right now. Do something constructive, for once! Prove that you are a mental adult, that you are just as good (in your actions) as that Chinese family, or your 'white oppressors'.

Two and three year old kids whine and throw temper tantrums. Sane, capable adults set about fixing problems.

Grow up!

If you don't like hearing this from a honkie, ask Thomas Sowell. He does a far better job of explaining this than I ever could!
