OBTW, I enjoyed your photo the other day of your home power system.

I've been off the grid since 1989 up here in upstate NY. Got a dozen Solarex MX60 panels, about 1200 Amp-hours of 24VDC Rolls batteries, a Trace 4000W inverter, and a pair of Trace C40 charge controllers (like yours), one for the PVs and one for my wind machine, an old 1940's Jacobs 2.6KW DC genny that's presently offline for repair.

Warms my heart to see another off-gridder! :-)

Best part about my little system is like tonight when we have thunderboomers. When the lights go out, and the internet dies, mine doesn't. I still have emergency lighting, power for the internet router from AT&T and power for a couple of the computers or laptops or whatever.

I don't have to slow down much.

And when commercial power is back on, I'm operating on it.

I'm not completely off grid here, just for emergency power.
