Looking for musicians to start a fun Oldies band. (Vanity)

I live in South Orange County, CA and since my health is getting better, I'm looking for older musicians who would enjoy starting an Oldies band just for fun. No big ideas for large play dates, but those who love those songs and can come over to my house to play, we will have fun and take it from there. Who knows could develop?

TOPICS: Music/Entertainment
KEYWORDS: 19601970; music; oldies
Contact me on this thread or Freepmail to see which songs would work for a guitar player, base, drums, maybe horns and back up vocals for me. Yes, I can sing.

I have an amazing song list that I've done in different bands: starting 1950's to late 1960's and early 1970's. Just so you know, I had and Oldies band while stationed in Roto, Spain called THE DECADES. We did all three decades and even had costume changes to work with each era. We played all the base and town clubs and they loved it.

Think about it and if interested, contact me via Freepmail. While we are all politically motivated, I've learned thru my old age it's time to rock again.

Plus, I'm considering buying a new Roland electronic drum kit. I had one back some years ago and it was good with earphones on if I didn't want to disturb the wife or neighbors in the evening. However, if we really want to play, I will buy a bigger amp. There is NO problem with the neighbors as long as we cool it by 10:00pm.

All are welcomed and input for later music is good. I love the 80's and early 90's one hit wonders and can get most of their vocalizations down.

BTW, my vocal range is similar to Elvis Presleys' range or Roy Orbinson without hitting his highest notes. Guess I'm around a tenor to alto, but with practice I can hit some high notes.

Think Cream's "Sunshine of Your Love". It starts in a low baritone and then modulates up into tenor/alto. Then again, many Oldies don't have men singing soprano unless like Frankie Valle of the Four Seasons who actually sang in falsetto. Just letting you know that when I practice, my range is perfect for most Oldies. Did falsetto with a couple of Buddy Holly's songs in my bands and he actually had a range that most people don't realize.

If you're looking for 80's hair band vocalizations, they were mostly in the upper register. However, with practice, I can actually sing, "Little Child of Mine". It's a reach, but I've done it.

If you want to play Metallica, then you buy the booze! You're welcome to come over and go crazy, but if that's your thing, YOU sing it and I'll go hyper on the drums like their drummer does. I prefer lessor is more.

Metallica has always been noise to me. I was more Def Leppard at that time with their melodies and solid rhythms, even with a one-armed drummer.

Although I'm looking for something different, c'mon on over and let's see what you got. Freepmail me.

Cool. Can you play the drum solo of IN A GADDA DA VIDA on it?

Sounds like a lot of fun. Wish you luck in finding some like-minded folks close to you.
