Full of Yogiisms.
I have come to the fork in the road and taken it many times!
Saw Yogi play in person at Yankee Stadium many years ago, along with Mickey Mantle and Whitey Ford.
Classy touch by MLB is right!
Happy 90th, Yogi.
Aug. 20, 1964. The Yankees had just lost, 5-0, and swept in a four-game series by the Chicago White Sox, The team bus was delayed taking off for O’Hare Airport, so Linz pulled out his new harmonica and he took out the “learn by the numbers,’’ pamphlet, and started playing.
Berra, in his first year as manager, turned around from the front seat and yelled toward the back of the bus: “Shove that harmonica up your...”
“I wasn't sure what he said,’’ Linz said. “So I turned to Mickey Mantle, and asked, “What did he say, Mickey?’
“Mickey told me, “Play it louder.’’’
I had the privilege as a tot of sitting in his lap in a FL restaurant. I was known to wander and socialize after I was finished eating. ;) I still remember it, too.
When I played Little League ball back in the 1950s, we called our catcher, “Yogi”. Lot of respect even when he was a young player. We loved Yogi. Hated the Yankees but loved Yogi.
As a kid I had 3 of his baseball cards but traded two away for players I believe Harmon Killebrew, Warren Spahn. My mother got rid of all my cards when I outgrew them. They’d be worth a mint today. Mothers sometimes just don’t understand ‘investing’ :)
#8 IF I recall correctly.
Yogi arriving home after a game: “So what didja do today?” Wife Carmen: “I went to see Dr. Zhivago!” Yogi: “What the hell is wrong with ya now?!”
“I didn’t say half the things I said.” — Yogi Berra.
You were my boyhood baseball idol. The only position I ever wanted to play was catcher and I only wore #8 from Little League through High School.

In theory there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice there is.
That's just...perfect...
HOORAY Yogi Berra! Lot’s of great memories of Tigers vs. Yankees.

Question: what time is it, Yogi?
Yogi: ya mean now?
