More than 200 teens battling cancer attending the prom Friday night at the Ritz-Carlton in Fort Lauderdale.

From the limo ride to the red carpet entrance to the dinner and dancing, it was a special night filled with dancing, smiles and a good time for all.

A night that means so much to this special group of teenagers, because they've been through a lot. "It's indescribable," said Emma Ruiz.

"Just be happy for a night... it's a great feeling," said Gabriella Masciello.

Everyone at the prom has been touched by cancer directly or indirectly, like Melanie Bragg and her best friend Taylor Murae.

"It just helps you realize you're not the only one going through it," Bragg said. "I'm just so blessed she made it through," added Murae.

This event is hosted by the Unforgettable Prom Foundation, a charity that gives prom night to those who missed theirs because of cancer.

For Lilia Cedeno the whole day was magical. It all started at the Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital where she was treated for cancer. Today she and others like her got pampered for prom.

"I've seen them around at the hospital when they are sick and they are kind of in their bed... it's wonderful to see them having fun for once," Cedeno said.

After the hair and make up came the dress. Her mother helped her get ready for the big night.

Cancer can be scary for anyone any age. But among these teens we found resilience instead of fear. And this night was about celebrating.

"This moment is the moment we have been waiting for all year," said Cedeno. And believing in a better tomorrow, cancer free.
