To read history and get any value from it, you have to do so CRITICALLY. So when the revisionists tell you that Columbus landed in a sylvian Eden that he proceeded to corrupt, ask yourself why a visionary explorer would sail around the known world with the intention of wiping out whatever native culture he found? When you're constantly reminded that our Founders owned slaves, consider that slavery was a long-established tradition in the agrarian feudal societies that shaped those men. When the movers and shakers that built our railroads, out cities, and our economic engine are derided as capitalist fat-cats, remind your critics that THEIR heroes -- Stalin, Mao, Che, et. al. -- built their paradises on the bones of millions, and in the end, all they bought for all that suffering was ... more suffering.
Well said.
I would only add that since so many of our communist today are of the Green variety that the communist nations were and are the most fetid, polluted pits of squalor on the planet.
For everything that the Communist promised their followers they delivered the opposite.
