Meet Brooklyn, the 13-Year-Old With the Golden Voice

She's known as the 13-year-old with the golden voice. Brooklyn Golden has a gift, one that makes her different than most teens.

It's a product of hard work and part natural ability, Brooklyn is turning heads and dropping jaws.

Brooklyn's story starts with a song.

"At the Cactus Theater where I take voice lessons they have a parent night where you sing with your parents. Mom gets nervous so Dad said he would sing the auctioneer song with me."

The Auctioneer by Leroy Van Dyke was a chart topper in the '50s, depicting a young boy with a big dream.

Auctioning is in Brooklyn's blood, her dad Clay Golden does it, too. Clay was the Texas Champion Auctioneer back in 2012 and has passed on the good genes to Brooklyn.

"She started coming with me and hanging out with me at events and I started teaching her," Clay says. "So that's where it came from."

And for Brooklyn, auctioning is her favorite way to spend time with her dad.

"His thing with me is auctioning," she says. "It's something that we can just do together."

It's become a family affair for the Goldens, with mom Heather in the crowd at almost every event.

"Lots of smiles across the room, lots of hugs and kisses from the ladies."

Heather admits she's a bit shy in front of crowds, but for Brooklyn it's no big deal.

But it's not all easy, Brooklyn says the science of the skill is knowing fast math.

"Knowing what numbers are coming up next and what increments you're going in." Brooklyn says.

Some people may not be as naturally gifted as Brooklyn and for the rest of us there's still hope, according to Clay.

"It's definitely a teachable thing," he says. "It just takes a bit of practice."

Golden voice? I listened to a couple of her videos and I think she sucks. She also seems obnoxious and full of herself. She’s the musical equivalent of Obama. Seriously, I don’t think she’s much better than the typical 13-year-old.

"I thought Madalyn Franklin was better."

I agree, and I don't think Madalyn was all that great, either.

There are some very talented youngsters. No doubt about it.

You should hear her father’s illegitimate daughter, Yonkers. She’s terrible. And plain.

Wow...what a performer. Not just a beautiful voice, but real stage presence. I did a little more research and discovered she died young (35) after a rough life. Sad.

If you want yo see a really great and very young singer just do a search for Amira Willighagen on YouTube. Fantastic singer and performer for a girl who came to prominence at age 9.

Yes, indeed. She was an amazing talent. He left us much too soon.
I'm getting close to eighty years on and I still remember seeing her on the tonight show.
I still get misty eyed at times seeing the videos.

But...

There's still great young talent....
How about a 6 years old that plays jazz trumpet like a master....

Elsa Armengou On The Trumpet. Age six years"

She also sings.....

Elsa Sings and plays trumpet

Heavens, I thought that was just awful--a child imitating an adult woman whose voice has been roughened with cigarettes and booze. This is the sort of thing I find beautiful for a child to sing:

Ombra Mai Fu
