No but this is beyond a defensive posture. They are pushing back against years of infiltration. In many cases, Muslim sea people may go back centuries. It is rare for a Buddhist group to resemble a militia.

Nonsense. Tibetan Buddhist monks and lamas alike took up arms against the Chinese invasion. Boycotts and refusal to associate with muslims is hardly going beyond a defensive posture. I’d call that a bare minimum of defense.
