I never drank much hard stuff until I experienced an Alaskan winter.(Cold and Dark) Left Alaska and now have little need.
No doubt, the colder a climate is, especially if it has an oppressive government, the more drinking there is.
And it’s totally different from the Caribbean or beach type drinking, which is happy drinking...not drinking to go numb.
