If they had not left a message/follow through vacuum, he would not be able to portray these views as his own and hold this spot.Trump isn't a smooth-talking professional pol - he's a larger-than-life New York businessman. People expect this kind of rhetoric from him. I think he'll get a mulligan for some of his controversial statements.
