The first question in our survey asked what our respondents thought they could achieve by moving abroad. Men and women were surprisingly similar in their responses, except that the responses for women were even more heavily weighted towards non-material reasons.

For example, 85.3% of senior women sought a “simpler, less stressful life”, while 64.1% wanted a “more romantic, exotic, or adventurous life” than they had in their home country. Playing “against type”, 30.8% more women than men wanted a less materialistic life.

The survey is worth reading. Lots of infographics to make it pleasant.

The economy has a lot of ocean crossing sailboats out there looking for owners.

Yeah. They say they want less materialism. Wait until it actually happens.

Mrs. Gamecock and I have been having this conversation as of late.

If things here don’t get turned around we just may bug out.

My wife and I went to International Living Conference in Cancun a few months ago....we’re booked for 11 days in Nicaragua this November for an exploratory trip....business opp, ministry opp (we already run a non profit ministry in Uganda) and living / retirement opp.

Nicaragua is the new Costa Rica. First world health care available at a tenth the price....can live like a king (and queen) for 30K a year. Can live well for less.

There are plenty of places to retire in the US.

...

I suspect the article is nothing more than an advertisement.

One woman’s quote-—”-—— a life where you actually have the kind of friends you did in the 1950’s in the States.”

What the hell does THAT mean?

A lot of my friends are from small Central American countries. I figure they know something.

These ex-pats may have been living a beatific life for decades, but there will come a day when promises that were made on an industrial scale over the course of generations will be broken on an industrial scale over the course of years or even months.

When that happens, it’s all going to be blamed on the “Merkins”, and vengeance will be extracted.

Belize...we have had an eye on Belize for about 5 years now. Formerly British Honduras. English speaking. Also a great place for stashing dollars (wealth). Great climate. etc etc etc...

"What do you do when you want something more and different than you’re getting in your home country? For an increasing number of 60+ women, the answer is to move overseas."

Perhaps it's because the vast majority of American men, especially young white men of military age, are nothing more then sniveling, gutless thumb suckers that live with Mommy and Daddy and spend their whole day "texting" on their free phones.....

When it comes to work it seems they would prefer to sell burgers and chicken parts rather then be machinist, roofers and electricians.... Those jobs are are all done by people with balls called FOREIGNERS..!

But....if you give it a bit more thought....I guess it's really the previous generation fault (my fault I suppose).....for NOT standing up to the "Progressives" and fighting back.... We have lost our schools, our jobs and now we have lost our young folk and thereby our country to the commies....

Hmmmm.....I guess this was off subject....sorry for the rant.
