Well to be accurate, the Klan was also into cronyism, and seeing to it (with their Klansman on the Supreme Court) that the Catholic schools couldn’t use city school buses to go to school (that’s the decision that established our modern interpretation of separation of church and state, an anti-Catholic bigot was behind it).
