They had a large group of testers and they still got a lot of bugs.

Plus I want to see the look on peoples faces when their “free” OS now asks for monthly fees for everything, like for Solitaire.

Have two laptops running 10. Upgrade was quick and smooth, zero issues so far.

KB3081424 installed fine for me on 8/6/15.

For me Windows 10 has been the least problematic update I can recall. It used to be that I would never even consider updating Windows but always start a new OS on a freshly formatted partition.

We sure have come a long way.

Yep, I’m sticking with Win 7, un-updated if I can help it, pretty much forever. I don’t see anything about any killer aps with Win 10.

It’s like with the A-V software I wind up with - it’s all a bigger pain and more obnoxious than any virus I’ve dealt with.

You WILL be punished for using any version of Windows whose identification number does not end in “#.1”.

How long before MS issues a Win10 R1?

Actually the July 29 release of W10 was an “early” release intended to attract the back-to-school sales. The working title for that release was/is “Threshold.” Work is continuing on several features including Cortana and Hello.

Threshold 2 is set to be released in October or November the last I heard.

BTW W10 has been working just fine on mrs p6’s laptop. The one issue I had was minor Cortana issue. After running sfc I traced it to a corrupt download/install of W10240. That was most likely caused by our sometimes flakey but usually fast -100mbs- Comcastic connection and me forgetting to switch from our wireless network to an Ethernet connection the night before the downlosd.

W10 is running fast and reliably now with NO issues.

Downloaded onto my laptop. Now I have to reboot every time I raise the screen because it will not resume windows.

Irritating nuisance.

You mean I will be rewarded for using Windows 3.1? :)

I just picked up a copy of Ubuntu ($3 for a live DVD) to try on my 6 yr old Vista Ultimate Desktop. Win10 is unlikely unless I eventually pick a such equipped used Desktop in a few years.

I’ve experienced the forced updates. Microsoft or Windows 10 monitors for no activity and then installs and reboots. It infuriates me because every application I leave open is shut down.

After rebooting I return to find all applications are closed. It takes me 10 minutes plus to frantically get back to where I was. I depend on software to handle communications, transactions and open projects. Yet Microsoft thinks they can shut me down and waste my time. In Win 7 and 8.1 I had the option to decide when I would allow the reboot. I could close things out and open them up again in an orderly manner.

I really want to be happy with Microsoft but what is it about this company that they think they can do whatever they want without consent?

Google is not with clean hands either. They disable apps secretly when an update is downloaded. They don’t tell people about it and they attempt to ‘herd’ people to another app that is not wanted.

I’m seriously thinking about going Linux because the time that Google and Microsoft is wasting me could be used to reenter a coding environment and configuration management. But Linux is a learning curve for database, website development, security etc. But maybe it’s not as difficult as I imagine.
