I have auto-updates turned off in Win7, but MS still manages to perform ‘critical updates’.

I know, because I have had to use System Restore several times when my computer started acting up. Strangely, the last item in the System Restore list is always a ‘critical update’.

Yep, I’m sticking with Win 7, un-updated if I can help it, pretty much forever. I don’t see anything about any killer aps with Win 10.

It’s like with the A-V software I wind up with - it’s all a bigger pain and more obnoxious than any virus I’ve dealt with.
