[history]
Home was the place to be in baseball Tuesday night.
When the Seattle Mariners beat Baltimore 6-5 in 10 innings, it marked the first time all 15 home teams won on the same day.
Viewing every game as a 50-50 proposition independent of all others, STATS figured the odds of a home sweep on a night with a full major league schedule was 1 in 32,768.

LOL, they keep creating "important" sports stats.
I can't even keep up with them all anymore.

Yep. It is amazing how trivial these stats are. How significant is a stat on a team’s record in night games on Astroturf when the starting pitcher is a left handed?
To: rickmichaels
A sign of the impending end of the age.

“World Series champion Giants”
I really dislike this PC term.
It was always World Champion.

My beloved Pirates fell victim last night to this cosmic phenomenon, losing in St. Louis 4-3.
Here’s hoping tonight all away teams win!!! 8^)
To: smoothsailing
And my beloved Angels also fell victim......
Perhaps tonight's story will be that for the first time in MLB history all away teams won on the same night.
BTW Love McCutchen !

McCutchen should be benched and only called in to pinch in late innings against the Cards. It would significantly boost his batting average and help the team.
He's awful against St. Louis except after the 7th inning. Last night he was a disaster. K, , DP, and FO. All but the last with RISP.

28 teams playing 81 home games every year means that that this should happen about once every 14.5 years. Since Major League Baseball has been around a LOT longer than that, one has to ask
"Why did it take so long?"
32,768/(81*28)

Sorry. 30 teams x 81 home games per year. It should happen about every 13.5 years.
32,768/(81*30)

So I take it the Brewers played away, then.

"Why did it take so long?" Good question
Actually it should occur more than that because there's a home field advantage with most teams having a better home record than away

Not the Rangers, they are good on the road, but horrible at home.

World Series champion Giants I really dislike this PC term. It was always World Champion. Please be more sensitive. Even the phrase World Series Champion Giants can hurt the feelings of the other 29 mlb teams. The proper term should be;
"The Team That Scored More Runs Than The Other Teams In October, Through No Fault Of The Other Teams, Is Only Recognized As Deserving Of The Formerly Known As World Series Trophy, Which Is Also Awarded To The Other 29 Teams As Well"
Thank you. I feel better already!

Yes, and there are certainly days when most weak teams are on the road playing strong teams. So, it should probably be more like 28,000-to-1, rather than 32,000. Small difference.

There shouldn’t even be a champion.
It’s non-inclusive.

McCutchen is a class act, and a heck of a good ball player.
Speaking of class acts, Albert Pujols is one of my favorites. St. Louis was crazy to let him slip away. The Angels got a good man.
