When I was at Benning in ‘69 we were called to witness a Silver Star ceremony for a valorous deed done in 1944 in Italy. And that was only 25 years after the fact.
70 years must be some sort of new record.

The captain earned the Combat of Infantry Badge, which also entitled him to a Bronze Star that he had not physically received. HUH???
Those are two seperate and distinct awards...

But I don’t see the Combat Infantry Badge which is missing. I got the Combat Infantry Badge during war time. The Bronze Star was mailed to me after discharge. Maybe nobody mailed his if he was entitled to the Combat Infantry Badge.
