I think bolas (like the gauchos use) would be more fun and challenging. Half the fun would be experimenting with what could give you the distance...bolts...nuts...some rocks duct taped to shoelaces... you could go full MacGuyver with the project.

Not quite a Phalanx system but a legal Gatling gun composed of two Ruger 10/22 receiver/barrels plus the kit.
