I'm going to hazard a guess and say alcohol was probably involved in this poor decision.
Or genetics.
“I told you I didn’t want a selfie with you !!!”
How did he live so long?
Sounds like the snake went above and beyond with tolerance. Wonder what he did to finally get it mad.
I normally give snakes their just distance and due, but in this case I feel ‘sorry’ that the snake will end up being destroyed because of the stupidity of this idiot - Guess ‘we’ will end up paying the tab also.
Well, he could be a liberal.
They don’t have to be drunk to do stupid things.
Yep a hold my beer moment.
“Hold my tequila”
I have harshly Judged two diamondbacks over the past couple of weeks. No selfies, but I did photograph the carcasses. 410 target loads (#7shot) works nicely.
Judge is my constant companion around the place since he so judiciously despatches snake justice.
Booze or sheer stupidity. There is no other answer.
We’ve lived out here on the river for almost 30 years. Husband has killed twenty-four (24) rattlesnakes in all those years. (He wanted to filet one of the bigger ones to put in the freezer to eat; but I said “NO!” All totaled, there’s no telling how many poisonous snakes have been killed out here on the river. There’s a sinkhole up the way that was just teeming with them several years ago. - Normally, I don’t kill any snakes. They have their place. - The copperheads, though, are sneaky. Quiet, sneaky, lethal. A copperhead got up on the back porch & was headed for the back door one night. Our big dog, Dubbers, is a snake dog with the biggest dew claws I’ve ever seen. She’s very casual about snakes; but the copperhead had her all stirred up & barking to alert us.
I may be biased, but.....
I don't think adults were this stupid when I was a kid. I honestly can't remember grown ups being this damned dumb when I was growing up.
Are there any Freepers in their 60s or 70s that can verify this?
I honestly think that people are getting dumber and dumber. It's very scary.
What. The. Hell.
LOL
This reminded me of a viral “Cobra Pit” video on Youtube. I will provide link below. It is hilarious, but be forewarned, the language the narrator uses is not for children or the overly sensitive:
Darwin Award
“There ain’t no cure for stupid” Ron White.
The man picked up a very nasty native of the Southern Californian desert, a Mojave Green rattlesnake.
He is fortunate to be present, because they can be a ‘two-stepper’, as opposed to David Carradine’s ‘five-stepper five finger palm technique’, as in ‘Kill Bill 2’.

Umm, the rest of US are not the ones who need that advice, genius!
Be nice if you could let us know where Lake Elsinore is. Only Elsinore I know of is in “Hamlet”.
