There are a LOT of questions here - first and foremost: If the spy was kill in 2010 and the [coverup] investigations were don in 2013, why are we just now hearing about this and how did it come to light?
Of course there are countless things about Bubba he could've found out, but it brings to mind that Bubba and one of his cronies were implicated in sex slave ring of underage girls. That story died quickly and had no "legs".

it’s because he was in MI6 is why this info is now being released. I have high doubts he was into what is claimed. generally those reports come from MI6 to tear down one of their posthumously. He might have been onto something & we’ll never know but it still hasn’t been figured out how he got in the bag & it was most likely his own agency that did him in. Where’s the news from his family? nothing, of course!
