1) How much memory do you have on your computer. If you have 2GB or less, you either need to upgrade the memory, or go make coffee while waiting for Chrome to load.

2) If you have more than 2GB of memory, time for you to look at what else your computer is doing - do you have a lot of old drivers for mice and cameras you don't use anymore? Might be a great time to download the Windows 10 media and just reinstall Windows fresh. (Back up your data first, of course - but you already did that when it updated to 10, right? RIGHT?)

3) If you have more than 2GB of ram, and there's no great heap of drivers loading (or other programs like Plex, OneDrive, DropBox, etc), you could try uninstalling Google Chrome and then re-installing it. This is LEAST likely the cause of your problems.

I have a little netbook with 1GB of ram and Windows 10, it takes about 2 minutes for Windows 10 to fully load, and then about 2 minutes for Chrome to start as it goes through and unloads tons of drivers from memory onto the hard disk. It is not upgradable, but honestly, I mostly use it for writing and not browsing.

I’m curious, do OS’s and apps run slower on “virtual box” than on a system without it?

SilvieWaldorfMD Has the correct answer.

But realize - Win10 is basically mal-ware. Chrome - by Google (The G in Google stands for Government) is not writen by people that care about you.

Both of those companies are ‘CARTELS’ sponcers of the government elite. The people that run ‘big-business’ are the same ones that run ‘big-government’.

EVERYTHING was working perfectly on my machine until I stupidly updated to Win 10.

I am sure I will have a new OS on this machine within the month.

WindowSUCKS.

My bluetooth is still FUBAR.

Windows10 = piece of $hit !!

Windows 10 is not done until chrome doesn’t run.

I haven't done video editing or 3D with VirtualBox, but for my Adobe and Office applications it is fast and seamless (W8.1 running XP).

Uninstall then reinstall Chrome. I have had to do this several times in the past.

I appreciate you trying to help, but this address—http://www.chromestory.com—is NOT Google’s site.

- - - - - -

Yes, it was a discussion of Chrome for Windows 10, not a download site.

I develop in VM’s everyday. It depends on the host machine and allocated resources.

If you allocate enough RAM and CPU to the VM it can fly.

Chrome is poorly written but I just opened and used it in Win 10 and it was just fine.

I wouldn’t suggest switching to a linux box just to accommodate a browser.

10 was used because a registry search for Windows9 would return true for Windows 95 and Windows 9.

I’m running chrome on 10 right now and it opens instantly.

It’s not the OS or the browser causing your problem.

No way around it except for more processor power and adequate RAM. Fastest is to write your own programs in assembly and then optimise them - like the game guys used to do.

I find that “hot” 486s with contemporary software do word processing very smartly. 4x video? Not so much.
