Word For The Day, Monday, 9/14/15
In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
puerile; adj
adjective 1. of or relating to a child or to childhood.
2. childishly foolish; immature or trivial: a puerile piece of writing.
Etymology: 1660s, "youthful, boyish," a back-formation from puerility, or else from French puéril (15c.), from Latin puerilis "boyish; childish," from puer "boy, child" (see puerility ). Disparaging sense, "juvenile, immature," is from 1680s.
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.
Practice makes perfect.....post on....
so you are purely puerile? good for you! A+++
She was here from FRiday night to Sunday before dawn. She is back in California since Sunday morning. I miss her more after that brief visit.
A little too chilly here this AM. 50 degrees at 7 AM. Makes me want to think about bringing my fall jacket out.
The Jayhawks got their 700th win this weekend. The 2nd team in the WPIAL and 6th in the state to hit that level. Only 35 teams in the entire nation.
Sarah had her first home game performance and the Spartans actually won. They were down early 20-0, but got the 35-34 win with a last minute TD and 2 pointer.
Pitt goes to 2-0 under their new coach, possibly igniting a QB controversy. He hasn’t named a starter for next week yet.
And the poor Browns must have been wishing they hadn’t let Terrelle Pryor go, after losing 2 QBs in yesterday’s game and having to rely on Johnny Football.
When I can be. Gotta put on the big boy pants sometimes, though. Someone has to pay the bills.
Not much beats ice cream, fireworks and tearing up the dirt with toys of varying definitions!
Nice, I like!
This is another great example of learning English from taking latin.
I could literally throw up. how inhuman.
was low 50s this AM, I wore a suit jacket over my dress today. Sounds like you had a good sports weekend!
fun times!
latin is very definitely helpful with language.
I stopped in our local Sam’s Club last night. First time I ever complained....a black man was the cashier at the next check out when he turned around and spit on the floor right in front of me...perhaps it landed in a cardboard box on the floor or a wastebasket, but it looked like the floor. I gagged immediately. On my way out I told the guy at the door that I was utterly disgusted. I was in flip flops and my toes literally curled up, too. Just gross.
Yep. Penn State got a win, too. And the Ravens lost.
oh that is gag-worthy. what a pig.
SU won also ; )
Unfortunately most people think “politically incorrect” and RUDE are the same thing. Political correctness has nothing to do with courtesy or politeness, but that is what the likes of Bill A$$hole Maher have convinced the ignorant masses.
you are absolutely right.
Trump is like a locomotive out of control and bearing down on the nomination. And that was funny.
