I assume a bunch of millennials were hired to write “jokes” and will shove all types of this garbage onto characters that Henson would NEVER have allowed to be used like this!
These is supposed to be a characters that the entire FAMILY can sit and watch and never have to worry about the content.
Oh, I dunno about that. Do a youtube search of some of his pre-"Muppet Show" and "Sesame Street" stuff. I was watching some bits the other night, and was amazed that it snuck past the censors.
He also did a fair number of commercials back in the 50s and 60s - again on youtube. Some of them are laugh-out-loud funny, and you can see a lot of The Muppets in them.
Oy! I thought you were joking. Perhaps the writer is joking? (although it does not sound like he is). You're right. This is not Henson. The original show was totally family friendly, but smart enough that adults could watch it and find it entertaining. (I still love "Pigs in Space!!")
