I tend to take news accounts more or less at face value and had no reason to question this one. That update is the last I know of the policeman. From the beginning I thought it strange that a policeman would call for backup, then take off on foot in the dark in pursuit of three men rather than wait in the car. If there really were three men, the policeman could have been afraid that they would get away, but if he did go on a foot chase, it was a very risky thing to do in several ways.
I remember that awful murder and that it was eventually solved but don't remember any details of it, fortunately.
Those events in Palatine really took a toll on that community.
I hope that this is resolved quickly. I’m troubled that they haven’t been able to eliminate some of the causes of this officer’s death.
