Well, as the center of the media universe, what they think about things percolates down to the rest of us. They have the power of the media behind what ever causes they want to push.
I sometimes wonder if the media landscape would be different, if the media had evolved to be centered in Cincinnati or Kansas City or Boise instead of how it evolved along the New York/Washington axis........
And then the entertainment business is also centered in New York and Los Angeles....................

Mental illness has been an accepted basis for divorce for CENTURIES.
And this is a mental illness.
We don’t give anorexics stomach stapling to make them happy so they can lose all the fat; they get antidepressants and counseling.
We don’t let a guy who says he is Napoleon get plastic surgery and demand everyone call him emperor. We give him lithium or antipsychotics and counseling.
We don’t let someone who feels alienated by an arm or leg cut it off, and the “transdisabled” just coming out freaked people out with the demands that they be accepted for removing a limb or wearing prosthesis to pretend disability.
Yet when a man says he’s a woman and wants to remove body parts, we face demands from liberals to use the new pronoun, accept them aping the most radical and traditional female behaviors and clothing, and hear that we’re supposed to pay $100,000 for him to have his body mutilated, instead of locking him in a ward for denying biological facts that toddlers understand (boy parts = boy, girl parts = girl).
And when they bring up the rare biological error, we have to remind them that the one in a hundred thousand biological mistake does not violate the male/female dichotomy.
Nor does a man putting on a dress and saying he’s a woman break down the male/female barrier anymore than $100,000 of surgery shows that the difference between men and women is nothing big at all.
